The light within.

While I was reading the YogaCofeeOutlook today, I came across this quote by Elisabeth K Ross, M. D.
"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."

I'm trying to let these words wash over me, to really sink in. It seems so timely. My take on this quote relates to my understanding of human suffering. Under ideal circumstances, anyone can be happy. It is really only when one encounters adversity that true colors begin to reveal themselves.

Just now, I remembered an email I received a few Fridays ago from Carrie & Danielle that is especially on point--the post was called "Happy Either Way" and essentially it boiled down to letting yourself be happy whether you get your way or not. This really resonates with me as an artist and plain old human being right now. We are so programmed to want what we want when we want it or... or... what? Or we'll throw a tantrum? Or we'll quit the job? Or we'll give up our dreams? Or we'll walk away from the relationship?

Right now, I'm truly inspired by offering up what I have to give to the universe and just being happy either way. I said inspired...not that I've checked this virtue off the old "to-do" list!

Peace, kids.
