pounced! Pitu7 Design.

Darlings, Someone needs to take my computer away from me...I want everything in Pitu7 Design's shop. I am a true jewelry-lover, and the sweet, modern designs of Pitu7 Design's rings have me swooning. The amethyst ring featured below is *so* me. {They offer a watermelon tourmaline ring that is also on my "please buy me this for my birthday" list.} But enough about me already, the creator of these beautiful pieces comes from Sumatra, Indonesia and a long line of Batak people famous for their hand-crafted arts. Definitely check out the Pitu7 Design shop.

la la la monday.

this weekend,i . . .

enjoyed life without a t.v. {we are analog & didn't make the switch.}
ate yummy seafood pasta at la rustica and watched the sun set over the Olympic mountains.
planned some communal raised beds with our sweet sweet neighbors. {you know i love to garden.}
listened to lots and lots of music. {especially loving making art while listening to yoga mixes my friend bekah made me.}
made tons and tons {okay, maybe not tons and tons, but quite a few} digi-collages.

essentially, i recharged the batteries. how about you?

pounced! Candy Factory.

I'm in LOVE with the juicy, girly photography of Michelle Campbell-Zurek and her brand new shop, Candy Factory. The COLORS and sweet forms immediately drew me in to her shop. it was so hard for me to pick a few to feature here, since I loved them all immediately.

{from left: wounded but not conquered & simone.}

Michelle has another shop, filled with beautiful work at Urban Junkies Photography. Also, check out here main photography site & blog.

all love. all joy.

dear-hearts,
i must say that the last few weeks have been like a true breath of fresh, prana-filled air after a stint at the bottom of murky pond. over the last bit, i've been unsure of what to write here and uncertain of this blog's future. hence, the quietness. however, i rode out that wave with a smile in my heart. such is life. so here we are again with a new batch of inspiring souls on flickr. do check out the lovely work of these artists by clicking the links.

joy in all.
love in all.

a happy hole in your heart.

miss shyla's room gets the most lovely morning light. chasing light today. and always.
the same light.
i plan out my outfits. we are going to see Thievery Corporation in vancouver for BK's thirty-second birthday. this is outstanding news, because they are my favorite. also, i have fingers crossed that we will get to see David Byrne next week. music really *is* my boyfriend.
scallops.
I keep on fear, keep on loathing
Nothing brings it on I keep on falling
Decide what it is I can not find
It subsides what you make it
Never feel like you're gonna break, ye
It's gonna be alright alright
Sleep until the morning comes
The sun will warm your soul
Sleep until the morning comes for you
Til the morning it's alright
I can walk into the sunlight, into the day, into the day, to the day
I feel it falling, nothing comes to my mind
Bring it on in a different tide
I feel alright, alright
I feel strong, i feel rigid
It's nothing to do with the vision
Oh feels so right, so right
Sleep on tight, sleep on tight
Sleep until the sunlight
Sleep until sunlight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight, til the sunlight
Sleep on tight, til the sunlight burns you happy
Til the sunlight burns you happy, till the sunlight burns a happy hole in
Your heart,
In your heart
In your heart...

Anjali.

Hello, dears.
This is Anjali. A new painting.
anjali

It depicts the anjali mudra.
Anjali means offering in Sanskrit.
Literally, mudra means seal (as in, sealing or channeling one's energy), and the mudra in this sense is a hand gesture-- palms touching in front of the heart (anahata).
The anjali mudra allows one to center, in order to offer all that is good back to the universe. Oftentimes, the mudra is accompanied by the word namaste. Namaste means (roughly) the light in me, bows with respect to the light in you. By coming back to the heart, we are able to offer that blessing to each other.
With that, Namaste, dear-hearts.

draw-ing.

darlings, on these days when i teach yoga before the rooster crows (six-thirty in the morning), i tend to feel a bit confused about what day it is, what time it is, where i'm supposed to be and the such. luckily, there is very little time for me to really wallow in the confusion, since i'm teaching two more classes today, mailing art from the post office and working my heart out. here is another new drawing. it's going into the shop tomorrow! UPDATE: it's in the shop, for sale. You can buy it right here.

the monochrome.

Monochromaticism has been on my brain lately ever since Joanna Goddard's piece on Monochromatic New Yorkers took the world by storm...at least that is what I thought until I recently browsed through my wardrobe remix portfolio and noticed that I have *always* been a devotee of a monochromatic palette.

For years (the shaved head days), I wore brown exclusively. As a student in an industrial part of Germany, I adopted the shades of grey that graced the sky, the air and the earth as my own personal crusade against standing out like the chubby blonde amidst the sea of gaunt brunettes that I, indeed, was.

Nowadays, I am more likely than not to embrace a monochromatic look, and I think my choice of article (a) is significant, because it is not just one color I have chosen. Rather, I enjoy choosing one color to highlight for that particular day, and just going at it with a MEGA attitude. Perhaps I don't fit the same mold as the Monochromatic New Yorkers, with their entire wardrobes built around a single hue, but I like my interpretation of the monochromatic look just the same.
Can ya dig it?

I hardly need a new hobby.

I found Polyvore. Holy awesome. It's my newest obsession. This is my idea of the perfect look to ease into spring.
